As I promised, I will try to do a small resume about Agile Games 2013 conference in this first day. I will do my best, because it was a BIG day starting a 8:00AM and we just finished at 8:45PM.
I will start with the Thursday’s key note from Roger Greenaway. Mr. Greenaway is not coming from Agile world, however he has a extensive experience in educators and coaches training. He also has a big experience with Games.
In resume, Mr Greenaway was able to bring games to agile application without any problem. The result was great and we start getting fun early in the morning with the first game: “Best of the Best: Sim Survey”. Interesting game with a lot of applications to get the conversation going on in any topic.
He also show us one interesting approach to see and discuss about team organizations with chairs (as you can see in the pictures).
Remember, it is a resume, so I will spend more time in the explanation of games later in different posts.
During the day, as I said, I decide to participate in one of the five “deep dive” with Luke Hohmann about “innovation games”. It was 4.5 hours of fun, games, talks and a lot of interaction. In the middle of all that fun, we played “Trilicious” game to resolve a social issue in Finland (“Green Region”). Good approach to resolve a social issue, it is high adaptable as agile game.
In the last part, we play few interactive games very fun and with a very deep message to each participant. Something very interesting from Luke was: “[…]we need to play a game first, after we can play THE game[…]”
Only in the first day, I got a very good list of thing to try and adapt. So far, I am filling up my goal. It is: “Tons of new ideas and games for my tool box”.
Tomorrow, Mr Appelo will do the Friday’s key note and give us some games demonstration. More material for my tool box 🙂 .
Thank you ,
Omar
